| All models sold will include either
a printed history sheet about the
ship portrayed, or in the case of most of the award winning models, a
copy
of the required competition entry brochure. These brochures usually
contain
not only the history of the ship modeled, but information on
construction
techniques and processes as well as the plans that were used to build
the
model. All of the models purchased will also include a CD, or DVD, with
high resolution photographs taken during the model's construction. Models that were not built on commission are usually made in a series of several models at one time, to decrease the time involved in building individual models, and therefore keeping the prices down. This also involves constructing many times the necessary number of small parts for the number of models planned, and only using the best of those to construct each model. This technique not only saves time over individually building the models, but also keeps the standards of craftsmanship at a higher level. The actual models that won awards are not sold, except in rare instances. |
| General sales of models already
built can be paid for as mentioned below. Commissioned model require
that one-half of the estimated cost for the model to be paid before
John starts actual work on the model itself. The balance of the
payment, plus applicable shipping and taxes, if required, will be due
upon completion of the model. Payment for models can be by personal check, Post Office money order, bank money order or Western Union money transfer. All payments to be made in US funds. Checks, money orders or money transfers to be made out to John Fox III and/or Lothlorien Crafts & Design at the address listed below. At this time John can not accept credit card orders for payment. Shipment of any models paid for by personal check will be held until the check clears. This can generally add one to two weeks to delivery times for models. Ship in bottle, or ship in light bulb
models, are shipped in a sturdy
foam lined plastic box for permanent storage. These boxes are then
placed
in cardboard boxes with additional packing material. Shipping costs for
ship in bottle models and ship in light bulb models are generally
around $25.00 each for smaller
sized models and about $35.00 for larger models.
This quote is for UPS ground delivery in the continental United States.
Canadian and other foreign shipments would cost more. All models shipped to an address in the
state of Wisconsin will have
the additional, appropriate state and county sales tax added to the
purchase cost. Static display models require much
more care and packaging, and the
shipping charges for those models reflects this. Exact shipping charges
for these models will be determined at the time of sale. All models are shipped with insurance covering the entire purchase price. Please use the email hotlink below to
leave an email message if you have any
questions. Lothlorien Crafts & Design "snail mail" address is
listed below. |
