4

Excellent! (A) Ready for work, all tools present, full attention on task. Answer is perfect. Contains all points sought in a complete understanding of the concept. Work is complete, correct, neat, and timely.

3

Very good (B) Ready and on task with a reminder. Result is nearly complete and shows an essentially correct understanding of the topic. Only minor points missing or flawed. Very slight error or imperfection. Correct, but too much time spent or slightly late.

2

OK but could be better (C) Needs several reminders to stay on task, needs visit(s) to locker for necessary classroom material. Significant incompleteness shown in the answer or result. Partial understanding demonstrated. One or more errors or omissions in reasoning, although a good and correct start was made. Answer shows an awareness of the problem and a correct approach but lacks a timely and complete finish.

1

Much improvement needed (D) Not ready, not on task even after reminders. Completely or nearly completely wrong answer. Demonstrates only limited understanding. Does not know how or where to start. Requests help to start a solution. Doesn't know the answer but may correctly answer a different or simpler question. Very small fraction of a project completed correctly, the rest not attempted. Many significant flaws.

0

Not acceptable (F) Refuses requests to be on task. Completely wrong or no answer. No attempt to answer or solve. No indication of a desire to know or learn. Not paying attention to classroom discussion or work. Refuses to try. Sarcastic remarks and replies. Laughs and grins are the only response. Lacks a serious approach.
